i get this in my Event Viewer about every other day. why is the web scanner doing this. i have to reboot and then it all works again.

"The avast! Web Scanner service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Hmmm... sometimes I've got the same error, booting solved it... but I could never find a good answer for why WebShield wasn't running properly in my computer...

yes. this keeps happening about every 3 days or so. very annoying to have to reboot. i hope there will be a future fix.

That error usually suggests that something is starting up before avast and possibly blocking it ,from loading before it starts itself either as a service or to the system tray. What other apps do you have loading? or running with avast?.

Did you check for the delay of loading in avast services into the Troubleshooting tab of avast settings?

if it was another app starting up and blocking avast why would it only occur every few days?

i'll try the troubleshooting options.
