avast and sandboxie program
« on: July 06, 2008, 02:38:26 AM »
Hi
I have begun working with the sandboxie program.
Question: Does the AV still work under this virtual environment? or maybe it works but no need for it there, only outside of the sandbox ? ???
Thanks

 :)  Hi EP :

Since you have begun working with Sandboxie, I would encourage you to read
THROUGHLY the "Help&FAQ" section on their Site ; any Questions about that
program are best asked in THEIR Support Forums accessed from THEIR Site ?
You are going to have quite a "Learning Curve" concerning "Sandboxie" .

Also would recommend you possibly ask about Sandboxie in the "other anti-malware software" sub-forum at www.wilderssecurity.com .

Thank you for the input. Maybe I was not clear enough in my question.
I shall make myself clearer : My antivirus is avast, being the fact that it works off the browser, the question is if the antivirus is able to get in to the virtual environment to do it`s job .The question comes from the looking at the antivirus , as a second defence line in case the sandbox fails to delete all the "goodies". And yes it is the appropriate forum to ask the question since it is an AVAST question, hence a relevant one.
Thanks

It will all depend on your avast! settings. Eventhough new files inside the sandbox are fenced inside, avast! will still be able to scan the files when written to disk if scanning upon disk write is enabled.
