Avast conflicting with Flash .fla files?
« on: July 07, 2008, 07:07:24 PM »
I am running avast! version 4.8 Home Edition (4.8.1201) with a VPS File version of 080706-0. I frequently use Adobe FLASH in my work and have run into a strange issue as of 07/03/08. If avast! is running, I can no longer open the .fla files that I normally work in. FLASH will crash. If I disable avast, I have no issue. Has this been seen before? Is there a fix?

TIA

Which is your Adobe Flash version?
If you submit the file .fla to www.virustotal.com, is the report clean?

VirusTotal gives the .fla a clean bill of health. I am using FLASH v9.0 (Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium)

If you update your virus database, will it solve the problem?
They usually correct false positives very soon.

It doesn't sound like a false positive if there wasn't any virus warning displayed.
If you stop only some providers (e.g. Web Shield), instead of disabling the whole avast! resident protection - does it help?

I should of tried this yesterday...as of approx 7:30PM EST this evening, I received notice that avast! had been updated and I am no longer having the issue.
FYI - nothing else has changed within the environment, just the update.

I do, however, appreciate the quick response and the input. Your product support is great!
