INSTALL AVAST 4.8 PROFESSIONAL TO VISTA ULTIMATE

After installation of avast 4.8 professional edition on a vista box , a popup menu doesn't appear on "avast! On Access Scanner" tray icon and no VRDB tray icon exist.

Any ideas ?

(ps. I have run the same installation on XP and everything works fine).

Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

I don't use any other antivirus software.

I also tried to repair installation but nothing happend.

I will try your last suggestion and i will come back.

I found the problem.

I made a clean install and after reboot i had the same problem.

So i disabled the UAC (User Access Control) and all the avast tray icons appeared and i was able to see the popup menu and of course change the program settings.

My question is , if there is a way to have UAC enabled and the tray icons up and running ?

Sure... it works this way. I have UAC turned on and the icons are there, always were...
Did you have any other antivirus in the past?
Do you use any other security program?

No not at all.

The environment is complete clean.
Just the operating system.

Any other ideas ?

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Install again the latest avast! version.
6. Boot.
7. Check and post the results.
