Exchange Virus Scanning API has low thread count
« on: July 08, 2008, 07:15:55 PM »
I found a previous post regarding this found at: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=30794.0

We have a DELL PowerEdge with a Quadcore Xeon processor.  The post above didn't address my issue where Exchange Analyzer is saying:

"The number of virus scanning API threads on server sbs2k3.stbm.local is too low and may cause performance degradation. Current number of threads: 3. Based on the current hardware configuration, a value of 9 is recommended."

...also...

"If Hyper-Threading is enabled, the value for NumberOfProcessors will be double the number of physical processors. It is recommended that you check with your antivirus software manufacturer to determine if physical or logical processors should be used in the above formula."

Since I'm a new corporate user with AVAST! I thought I should check here first as tech support is extremely slow with responses...any users have some good feedback!?  Thanks in advance!
