Should I be concerned
« on: February 06, 2009, 03:59:25 PM »
My most recent complete "deep" scan came back with 500+ files that could not be read.  I am a novice user so I am asking for your patience and help.  I have attached a copy of the results.  If anyone could take a mooment to review and let me know whether or not I should be concerned... I would be very greatful.

See http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=35347.msg297170#msg297170 this topic for more information on why files can't be scanned.

Files that can't be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.

No problem, glad I could help.

Given that information are there any particular entries you are not familiar with ?
If so can you post a few common examples as a 117KB text file is just too much to beaver through.

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks again!  Most of the 500+ lines were somewhat repetative in directory and error.  Here are a few of the main groupings:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Server\plugins\com.adobe.versioncue.persistence_3.0.0\template\vcdbtemplate.zip\data\database\data\ibdata1 [E] The file is a decompression bomb. (42110)

C:\Users\GLRobbins\AppData\Local\Temp\iolowupd\SystemMechanic.exe\{pf}\iolo\Common\Lib\SpyData.dll\SpyData.scp [E] Archive is password protected. (42056)

"Archive is password protected" means exactly what it says - the archive is password protected ;)... we (and anyone else) can't unpack it without knowing the password..
