Is Avast Home 4.8 okay for Vista?
« on: July 17, 2008, 09:56:45 PM »
Today in a Microsoft Vista newsgroup on Usenet, someone posted this:
Quote
I will pre warn you that Avast 4.8 does have some issues with vista.
install version 4.7 as recommended by the avast developers.

Is that true? I installed Avast Home 4.8.1201 on Vista Home Premium and, so far, have not noticed any problems.

Running here fine with vista 32 premium. In fact avast has always been the stablest av out of the very many that ive trialled over the years. What exactly did the poster say was the issue?

I haven't heard any avast developers recommend 4.7 over 4.8 on vista, in fact quite the reverse. If avast is running fine on your pc and theres no conflicts with any other software then just enjoy it.Avast has a good reputation of very stable releases.

I would have to say the same, any of the developers and there are a few regular participants in the forum, they are more likely to want the user to stick with it an they will go a long way to resolve the problem. Even going to the point of remot connection to some users systems to identify and resolve the problem.

So I have no idea where this spurious two line usenet statement originated or who posted it, but I certainly wasn't on these forums.

FUD.
They don't know avast and are talking non-sense...

No issues here. Running Vista Ultimate x86. I've been using Avast for years now because it's the most compatible and issue free AV for Windows. Most others are complete crap.
