E-mail Scanner for Outlook
« on: July 23, 2008, 02:52:09 AM »
Lately, Avast is no longer scanning my MS Outlook.  It says it is "waiting for a subsystem to start."  How did my scanning service get turned off, and how do I get it to run again?  It used to show 7 of 7 providers running when I had Outlook open; now it is always just 6 of 7, with Outlook out of action!  Thanks!

Make sure the avast plugin is not disabled into MS Outlook:

Outlook 2007 > Tools > Trust center > Add-inns > Manage Disabled items.
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items.
Outlook 2002 > Help > About Microsoft Outlook > Disabled items.
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.

Also, update your avast program to the latest version 4.8.1227

Thanks!  That was the fix (for Outlook 2003).  All seven providers are running now!
