Norton Antivirus Virus Defs
« on: July 21, 2008, 08:39:41 PM »
Avast is tagging "Norton antivirus virus defs" as a "Palm:Vapor [trj]" virus but won't allow it to be deleted or moved to the chest.  Should this be a concern or is it only a case of Avast finding a Norton's virus signature and thinking it's an actual virus?  Why can't I delete it?   Thanks!

Probably, it's a definition inside that looks externally as the virus itself. In this case, there's no need to delete Norton's definitions, because it's a false-positive.

Deleting would not not possible probably because the definitions-file is set as read-only and/or owned by different user.

I'd rather say : there is no need to use another anitivirus than AVAST  ;)

and mostly ...Norton , which is a virus itself  ;D

Running 2 Resident Anti-virus programs in tandem is asking for huge problems. They will conflict, there will be FP's

There are many Nortons convert's on this forum with detailed instructions on how to remove the program.

Removing Nortons via add/remove programs is not enough you will also need to use
Norton Removal Tool if you choose to stay with Avast only
Download page Norton Removal Tool
