Archives unabled to scan
« on: August 03, 2008, 03:49:20 PM »
Yesterday, my husband's laptop downloaded a Trojan   Ran Avast at boot and it detected the Trojan.  So I disabled System Restore, deleted restore folder, re-enabled System Restore and booted to safe mode as administrator where I did a thorough scan with Avast Home.  It was not able to scan 68 archived files, such as recovery.ini's and such.  I can not copy and paste the results, as I have disabled the internet on that computer and am using another.
Is there any else I can do other than reinstall Windows XP?

Files that can't be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.

By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.
