problem with google
« on: August 09, 2008, 02:39:13 PM »
Hi,

When browsing the net, recently when trying to get to google sometimes instead of getting to the google homepage, i get the following message:

Quote
    We're sorry...

... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.

If you're continually receiving this error, you may be able to resolve the problem by deleting your Google cookie and revisiting Google. For browser-specific instructions, please consult your browser's online support center.

If your entire network is affected, more information is available in the Google Web Search Help Center.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

Eventually, i have formatted my pc, and installed avast and a firewall.

Although avast reported no infections, i still often get the above message. Any idea what the problem might be please ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

How long has it been since you've deleted your cookies and cleaned out your Internet temp. folder ???
Try that and see if it resolves your problem.  :)

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Actually, that was the very first thought which came to mind, but as explained in my thread the symptom still happens (not always) even after i have formatted my pc i.e. there shouldn't be too much cookies/temp files after a clean install.

Could it be that sometimes i open two/three tabs on firefox and i click on the home page i.e. google for each one in a short period of time?

Thanks

I don't think so... sometimes, Google servers are reporting as busy and connection could suffer problems.
