Scanning Archives - 7z
« on: April 08, 2004, 07:52:55 AM »
Are there any plans to add 7z to the list of archives that avast can scan?

It's in intrinsic release planned to streamline all avast versions on the occasion of the release of the network edition of avast (avast! Distributed Network Manager).

It's gonna contain quite a few bits interesting even for home/end users though - more on this TBD...

Est. timeframe June.

No, program updates are normally released about once a month.
But this is a new program version.

Won't be insteresting a specific forum board for it?
1. Wishlist
2. New features
3. etc.

I suppose it won't be a bloatware  ;D

Hm what do you consider as bloatware?
I don't mind if avast! gets a firewall or antispyware detection. As long as it keeps speed, low CPU and memory usage its fine. Every extra feature is welcome.

This will take us so far...  :-\
There are a lot of topics discussing this. The majority of the users prefer 'standalone' applications. Alwil could have, for instance, a firewall and avast. Only few of us prefer a 'systeworks' application.
Layered defense is another principle.
Anyway, just opinions  8)

Hehe ok i don't need disk cleanup and defragmenter in antivirus software, but firewall and maybe anti-spyware is something very common for nowdays antivirus programs. But even if avast! stays only antivirus, its fine with me since its very good :) Another opinion from me ;)
