pelauncher.exe
« on: August 11, 2008, 06:37:46 AM »
Every time I run avast! it is reporting that  pelauncher.exe   ( Paragon 64bit backup ) is infected with Win32:ExitWin [trj]. The package came directly from Paragon and I don't think they would be selling an infected program. Any ideas?

Upload the file to VirusTotal and post the link to the results.

TWO ( avast! AND Gdata ) reported the virus. The rest said it was clean.

False positive. Send the file in a password-protected zip folder to virus@avast.com with false positive in subject and the password in the email body.

<snip>

TWO ( avast! AND Gdata ) reported the virus. The rest said it was clean.

GData uses two scanners one is avast so that effectively counts as one detection most certainly a false positive.

In the meantime you can add it to the exclusions lists:
Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add and
Program Settings, Exclusions (right click the avast ' a ' icon)
Restore it to its original location, periodically check it (scan it in the chest), there should still be a copy in the chest even though you restored it to the original location.

When it is no longer detected then you can also remove it from the Standard Shield and Program Settings, exclusions.
