This was answered before I suppose...
Were you browsing at that time? ashWebSv.exe is just scanning the connections that you're making to Internet, possibly by your browser.

Yes I was browsing at that time :)
This is the flowchart: Web > Web Shield > Browser > Standard Shield

All data is first checked and then passed to the browser, and if the data is cached it can be also checked by Standard Shield.
So the connections are made by the browser and WebShield is just scanning them.

No, avast is an antimalware (antivirus, antispyware) application only, not a firewall, not a suite.

Who want's one ??? I got away from Norton because it was a system hog.
I sure don't want to see avast! turn into one.

I don't want a suite either.
But a firewall won't be bad ;)

I totally agree with Bob & Tech ... as long as the "avast firewall" is a seperate program.    ;)

A internet security suite may slow down the system but it offers complete protection from all kinds of internet threats :)
Let's have a poll for this :)

A poll will serve no purpose as a) there currently is no avast firewall b) Alwil I believe have already said it will be available as a suite for those that would prefer a suite.

Those that want a stand alone AV would still be able to use avast, so my logic would be so to would the avast firewall. But this is so early days that speculation is worth little as we don't know if the firewall will have a free version, if suite will be a paid option or also free for home use.

It really is a waste of time to speculate, Alwil will be the ones making the decisions and when the time comes, we on the forums are likely to be the first to find out.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Not all the speculation is waste of time, imho.
a) give some thoughts to the programmers.
b) Alwil can take into consideration these wishes.
c) we do not have a good solution for Vista, so we're anxious and this brings speculation.

A poll will serve no purpose
I disagree.
Anyway, the poll is already there http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=38038.msg318294#msg318294

There is no such thing as complete protection. Nothing is perfect nor complete ... especially the user of the computer.

So very true.  :'( :'(
Since the malware always comes first, there's always a lag time till the cure becomes available.
It's therefore extremely important for the user to always use extreme caution  when ever he/she uses their computer.
As DavidR has said on many occasions, "Practice Safe Hex"  :)
