Use C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
without parameters into your download manager tool.

Do you use a download manager?

What browser do you use?

when i down load any thing it used to run a scan on it  now it just down loads.
Right click the file and choose the avast option there to scan.
If you use a donwload manager (for instance, www.freedownloadmanager.org) you can use ashquick.exe (that I've posted before) to automatically scan every downloaded file.

Look mark, if you want to scan a downloaded file, right click it and choose avast option to scan it. Is this what you want to do?

There is no option in the firefox download function to have it scan your downloads, if this worked before then you had an add-on that you were able to enter the location that Tech gave so files would be scanned after they were downloaded.

Firefox 3.0 introduced a new function that it was meant to have your installed AV scan downloads by default, but it still didn't give the user the option to enter the path for the file to scan the download. Unfortunately this simply doesn't work with many AVs and avast is one that it doesn't work with.

You're welcome.
More importantly have you figured out how/why your previous downloads were scanned by avast ?
