Could you use this info to start the predefined tasks, instead of your ones?
I'm afraid you cannot start your own tasks using ashQuick... only using ashCmd.exe.

Set a password on your Windows account in control panel > use accounts.

Maybe you do not use a password to not have to fill it each boot.
I know it's a security lack, but if you want, there is some auto-login programs that can make your XP automatically logon.
You will have a password (and will be able to schedule scans) and will automatically boot.
For instance: Tweak UI 1.33

Doesn't work for me.  I keep getting this error message:

I've accepted Desktop\Owner and entered and reentered a password, but always the same result.
My Computer:
Mfr: Dell
Model: Dimension 2300
Type: Desktop
CPU: 1.8 Gigahertz Intel Celeron
Installed RAM: 256 MB
OS: WinXP Home
Disk Drives: CD-RW, CD-Rom, 3.5 "
Optional Info: hp Laserjet 1000 (usb); Lexmark Z52 (parallel); Intel Extreme Graphics Controller

Technical...  It doesn't help.  Looking at the error message:
http://img121.exs.cx/img121/3429/ScreenHunter_3.jpg
You are asked to use the Task page Browse button to locate the application.  Problem is, I did use the Browse button to locate the application.  As far as the Password is concerned, I do enter and reenter it.  The problem here is that I have never used a password to log-on to WinXP, and I don't care about ever having to use one.  So I think I'd best just forget about scheduling my scans.

So I think I'd best just forget about scheduling my scans.

Why?
You can search the web for a lot of schedulers, freeware, that can replace Windows Tasks.

For instance:

Thanks for the link Technical.  It works super, and with a lot less hassle than the Windows Scheduler.  Use the browse button to locate the program you want to run, and use the Parameters window to put in the drive you want scanned, for me C:, and that's all there is to it.  There will be an icon placed in the system tray, near the clock.  This icon cannot be removed if you want the program to run at the scheduled time.

hi TEC

Sure... The best! NETRUN
It works perfectly (although no more updates). I can't imagine my life without NetRun...

NetRun will 'RUN' a 'List' of programs only when a internet connection is detected, and close/kill the same 'List' when the connection is lost. When I upgraded my machine to XP, the program that I was using stop working so I was forced to write this program.

  • Tray based & Quiet (NO splash, or nags)
  • Easy Drag & Drop setup
  • Quicker bootups (I save 11 sec. on my machine!)
  • Internet detect via IP method
  • Supports Windows XP
  • Re-Run on re-connect
  • Small demand on system resources
  • Can set to auto-start with current user
  • FREE for all!

Download the beta version (it's stable and pretty good, no fear)
