We are just avast users like yourself trying to find out what the problem is so we can try and help if we can.
i think i may have figure it out its call the status bar and all the icons stay lit up all the time they just light up when you are checking different things or doing different task.  :o ::) ;D it seems to be a mistake on my part and maybe the other person that made a post about the icons being lit up was confused also.

If you are able to do a screenshot of a) where you are making these changes and b) the status bar and icons, etc. we might have a better idea what this is about.

We aren't trying to mess you around but we (me for sure) just can't understand the area you are talking about.

Status bars, I usually associate with the bottom bar of a window, commonly a browser.

See how: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0.
You can use Gadwin PrintScreen to get a screenshot (http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/) or the free version of WinSnap 1.1.10 (http://www.filehippo.com/download_winsnap/?2173).

i think i am beginning to understand a little. the icons that i have been talking about are at the top of the enhanced interface. they do not all light up at the same time different ones light up or show up as you do different things like the chest icon / alerts / scheduler /  task and their are others also.for some one that has never used this virus scan the instructions don't seem to be that clear on some things.  :)

keep the in the chest for a week or two and then scan them again(to ensure that these are not false positives)...then if they are indeed infected delete them..

By opening the Chest, right click the avast Enhanced User Interface, select Virus Chest, Infected files section Highlight the file you wish to scan, right click and select Scan.

Access to the Chest is off-limits for all other than avast!
