Hey Vlk,

After a reinstall, a boot scan including a virus removal, a setup of the Outlook XP version and a repair of the outlook 2003, a removal of the Xp version and again a repair of the Office 2003  it works fine again. :D ??? :D ??? :D

At least it looks like it works fine again. Don't know offcourse what happend. When it works good and it removed the first incomming virus succesfully, which will come in no time, I'm a happy person. ;D

Thanks for the replies.

 Cu, Putjes.

Hmm, that's typical -- I'm left without knowing anything... :-\

Anyway thanks a bunch for sharing - I got some tips on what may've caused the problem actually -- and I'll try to add some more logging to the upcoming update so that if the problem reappers, we'll know more...

Thanks again,
Vlk

Hey, ... I'm sorry to hear that. :-\

In this case, I'd like to ask you something. Please install the pre-release of the next program update. It contains some changes and I'd like to know if they solve your problem (there is a fair chance they will).

To install it, please follow the instructions given by Igor here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=3358 (the very first post - you can ignore everything after instruction #2 -- i.e. only do what's said in instruction #1 and #2).

Thanks
Vlk

This is the result in the browser after clicking the url and pasting it in the Iexplorer:

[servers]
count=1

[server0]
url=http://cat.asw.cz/beta-jap
name=Test (internal)
products=av_pro,av_srv,av_ker,av_oem,bart,av_net_cl,av_net_srv,exav,av_pda_palm,netpurum

can I ftp?

btw, I installed Outlook Xp again and reinstalled Avast 4 and it works fine again. So there must be a relation between Outlook 2003, avast4 and the malfunction. ???

That's correct - it's the content of the file you should get.
So, either copy & paste the content to the servers.def file, or use rigthclick and Save as, instead of simple clicking the link.

I have a similar problem:
Outook 2003 does not react ANYMORE in about 3 of 10 cases.
That means: I start Win XP Pro, open Outlook...most times all is ok, some times Outlook does open, but does does not show anything...only a grey window.

No problems when I disable the avast agent for outlook.
No entrys in the eventlogs.

Reboot often helps, but it's not guaranted, sometimes I have to disable since a new Update is available.
