I have a new toolbar that I cannot delete. It says security toolbar and tells me my system is infected with w32.myzor.fk@yf virus. I am also getting a message that says system alert:malware threat. If I click it, I get a virus detected warning. I ran the virus cleaner and got a bunch of files that could not be scanned. Please help! I am a novice so your patience is appreciated.

Run HJT again, Scan only.
On the list of entries find the ones reported to fix, on the left of the entries is a box, check it. At the bottom ot he list is a Fix Selected button, clicking that will remove those entries (the default setting is to create a back-up of the fixes).

This whole thing is a rogue scum/scamware trying to extort money out of you by scarring you.

Try this tool, RogueRemover, available here http://www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover.php

Now this one, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware freeware version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later.

Julz0715 , now is the time to update Sun Java and Windows to Service Pack 3.

Go to Add/Remove Programs and un-install ALL versions of Sun Java.

Download then install JavaRa to verify all traces of Sun Java are removed:
http://raproducts.org

Download then install Sun Java JRE Version 6 Update 7:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Reboot.

In IE go to Tools then Windows Update then update Windows to SP3.

Run Secunia: Online Software Inspector to see what other application needs to be updated:

You don't appear to have any active process of a firewall on your system ?
(1.) You are using the windows firewall or a hardware firewall.

as you can tell it's not over till it's over

number one priority is to get a quality firewall and do the updates mentioned

run the suggested programs like secunia_inspector
do the updates
install spywareblaster by Javacool
install Spybot Search and dewtroy by Safernetworking- be sure to get the real thing
install Spybot's SD-Helper _the above work well with Avast
Do not install spybot t-timer at this time
update spybot and immunize if you did not do so with install

download and run CCleaner
run a spybot scan- quarentine any hits and report- do not remove/ delete
(after running CCleaner there should be no cookies)
defrag
set a new restore point
