I can't see the fun in it when I'm not at the computer ;D, when I am I'm working, browsing, etc. so the screen saver isn't running.
Well... I'm not all the time working and browsing... and then, doing other things, the screen saver starts ;)

I simply can't understand why anyone uses screen savers since the virtual death of the CRT monitor there use is pretty much redundant. Even then why not simply go into standby, I don't hang around to watch my screen saver run, I would much rather it just went into standby.

I obviously don't use the avast screen saver for either the VRDB or antivirus scan, I much prefer to do these manually as a part of my regular weekly system maintenance.

 :o :o  :-X :-X
WILL I ANSWER THAT???

You have no imagination, no fantasy!

Anything goes... but no answers to a simple question.
It's not a question of "using or not using"...
I will deceide MYSELF what I do with my PC.

What is the relevance with my question?

Those who have not read the whole post
the problem is that the screen savers do not start as they should
the start whatever got borked during malware removal (most likely at tech support but NOT here)
anybody an expert on Windows and or Screensaver initiation?

As AVAST did NOT stop the viruses, they are not quarantined!
I had to get rid of them manually and put them in the corbeille!

good mourning

Did you reinstall your screen saver program?
IN reading your last post evidently there was not a program which removed blphcv8e3eab.scr
but you did it by hand
Methinks something essential got removed in the process
What Exactly scans did you do before posting? any logs from spybot, mbam or others
anything in quarantine?
if not it looks like reinstalling time unless you kept a log of what you removed

from techsupportguy thread
Jean, I don't know how to fix your problem from here...
You could try reinstalling all of the stuff again?
Sorry
*** Remember a lot of so called FREE screen saver applications will be loaded with malware, virus and Trojans;
So use an online free scan service like;
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
after you download something you can go to the site and browse to the program and then upload it, and have it thoroughly scanned.

Ommmmmmmmmm

First, Av2009 appeared suddenly as a website
saying I have a virus and I must scan my PC.
I realised it was a fake and a virus immediately...
but still too late.  I googled  "AV2009"  and found that site:

http://forums.mwti.net/viewtopic.php?t=576&sid=f1a8db83bc47291ec7d6e7d131639fba

I searched my PC and I only removed the 2 files according to the 2 posts of that site...

THEN:

All screen Savers work fine...  (I never said they don't work!)

B U T :   (HERE IS THE KEY TO ALL THIS MESS!!)   ;) :)

It is just that the Screen Savers would not run anymore with left double click!
When I do so, I  only get the configuration window.
So, I have always to do the long procedure,
either right click on the Screen Saver application, Configure, or Install, etc.
or right click on the desktop, Propriety, Screen Saver Tab, etc.

Before the VIRUSES, it was not necessary to Install.
They would ALSO run immediately, like any other application
we open with normal left double clicks.

In short, BEFORE, I had 2 ways of running a SS:
EITHER a left double click
OR right click on Desktop,
screen saver tab, Install, etc...
Now I MUST ALWAYS INSTALL the SS,
it won't work with the short procedure
of a simple LEFT DOUBLE CLICK on the programm...

And that's what I posted since the start...
I hope it becomes clearer and clearer each time.
I feel like repeating myself again and again... ;)

Many thanks.

As for the scans, I think it's mentionned in my original post...
I runned a complete AVAST scan and Spybot (which I use 3/4 times a week
with Eusing Registry Cleaner)

Of course after I entered the Forum,
you already know what cleaning programs you made me run!!

Take a look at this:
Dates from september first...
Seems AVAST is updated now!!...
 ;)

If I have the gist of what is going on installing the screen saver won't have any effect if there is something missing that would notify the screen saver to run.

Unfortunately I don't use a screen saver so have never had to chase any problem like this so can't be of much practical help. So hopefully you might find something in this google search, http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=screen+saver+won't+run.
