Problem is, Windows 95 does not have a MSCONFIG type program.

So I need to find another rute to do so...

Ok I reinstalled Sygate and everything works now.  I guess it was just a wacky install last time.

No, I don't think it was a "wacky install" last time.
I have found that "occasionally" Sygate does block things that you are giving "permission".  Even if you set it to "Allow", it still blocks access.  Naturally Sygate does not have a superior Forum like we have  ;) so the problem went unresolved.
It is however (from my experience) a rarity.

Glad you got it working.  Enjoy Avast and the Forum.
