Test from anti-malware.ru...

Avast got 1 Gold and 3 Silver awards...

One Award can be won by more Antimalware-Programs and there are four Challenges
(Platinum is the best, then Gold, Silver, Bronce and then no Award)

Comparing system resources used makes sense.
I don't know what speed has to do with quality ???
