Hi mika-nikola,

About spybot s&d ask our friend Wyrmrider, he is an Spybot S&D expert.
Updating your host file can be once in a while, a nice free program to to this with (it removes doubles and automattically insert only the new entries) is polonus: hostman: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Misc-Networking-Tools/HostsMan.shtml

Polonus, isn't it easier just to let SpyBot manage the Hosts and forget the 'all full other features' of HostMan... I mean, I have HostMan installed, I run it, gave up on it, come back to SpyBot...

Hi Tech,

You may be right, there. Let wyrmrider explain that to mika-nikola. I do not use Spybot S&D anymore, I have a cocktail of SAS, MBAM, a-squared, SpywareBlaster, Micro-ewido scanner, RUbotted: http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/rubotted
In the old days I used the free program hostess, but I could not find it on the intertnet now, but if Spybot Search & Destroy can do the work for mika-nikola, so much the better,

Which Hosts file did you install?
Polonus suggestion of Hostman to handle your host file is a good one
The spybot "immunize" hosts file is good for malware
the HPHosts and MVPS pick up adware and by blocking adware (not downloading megabytes of ads) speed up your system- especially important if on dial up)
No answer on the mis-detected update on flash player
you need Spybot much more than you need Ad-Aware- although you can have both
I do not use auto updates- I do manually every Wednasday- why check multiple times a day when Spybot only updates once a week
I do not like auto update for windows- auto notify is ok but windows "big brother" will update what they consider critical anyway

Can someone chime in on sound issues?-- Mika I think there is a thread on sound- try search
Can someone else discuss defrag and restore point for his OS?
