Slow opening Internet Explorer
« on: October 04, 2008, 08:31:41 PM »
Hi All
Just registered Avast after finally giving up on AVG (after years of use) and it seems to work OK except, after booting up my PC (or even taking out of hibernation) it takes a while before Internet Explorer opens. Or, at least, it starts to open and displays "connecting" but remains blank for much too long before it opens any websites. Worse still - my PC freezes and I can't even view my desk top.

There may be some remnants of AVG interfering with avast!

Try uninstalling avast!, running the AVG removal tool, then re-installing.

I thought I would leave it for a couple of days (especially as a techie is calling round to change the motherboard and I would have asked his opinion) and it seems to have sorted itself. Well chuffed!
Cheers
