ashWebsv.exe and inbound internet connection.
« on: September 12, 2008, 08:56:45 AM »
win Xp sp3
Avast 4.8 home
Yesterday I have installed Comodo CFP v3
I recieved an popalert that ashWebsv.exe is trying to recieve connection from internet.
On running netstat -ano it was revealed that it is listening at 127.0.0.1 .12080( redirecting iexplorer port).
I assumed that ashwebsv.exe does not need external internet connection so i blocked this request and allowed it in loopback zone.

Since avast manual is quite on this topic I am putting this qustion to esteemed members here does I need to allow Inbound connection from internet to ashwebsv.exe for proper functioning

put in anoother word does avast server needs periodic connections to computers on which avast 4.8 Home is installed.

Members please provide the answer to this qustion

Thanks in advance

Regards

Adi

ashWebsv.exe is avast WebShield. It works between the Internet and your browser. It will use the loopback 127.0.0.1. It's a safe application and you need to allow connection.
