| Antivirus XP 2008: evil spyware / malware!! |

Hi there!! Two days ago, my desktop computer was infected with a stubborn "virus" called "Antivirus XP 2008". It works like this: - Windows XP software look-alike - False system scan at start/restart (more than 2000 possitives) - Horrible new desktop - Center window that hides any other windows you open - Permanent Windows security alert, asking for update - False Windows "blue screen" (system error) and false Windows XP restart screen, but your computer IS STILL WORKING. - Interception of web browser so that you can not open any antivirus sites and, what's more, it redirects you to several "Antivirus XP 2008" sites. Dispite having found ways to ban the virus (by editing manually the Windows registry...), the damn blue and restart screens (which reappear every 2 minutes aprox., even in "error safe mode"!!) didn't let me work and I didn't manage to clean my computer, so I had to restart it in "error safe mode", copy my files into an external device and... format. I have Avast! antivirus in muy laptop (my desktop antivirus was PC-Cillin), but I'm not sure its data base is updated yet... Any information on that issue?? PS: sorry for my English |
