Non functional buttons in Avast 4
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:14:18 PM »
Hello All,

I have been an avast user for about 4 years. I find the program very very good and have recommended it to all my friends who have computers.

I run Windows XP Pro SP2 I have found that the buttons for the following are non functional:-

i.   Status information;

ii.   Last scan results;  and

iii.  View scan report;

The above buttons have grayed out and I can't view any results whatsoever.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in rectifying this problem.

They are functional only during the session of the Simple User Interface (SUI). The Home version doesn't store this data after you close the SUI. When you open the SUI again these will be greyed out (not available rather than non-functional) as the data is no longer available.

This hasn't changed as far as I can recall in a little over four and a half years I have been using avast Home.

In the Professional version, all these informations are kept into the Sessions folder ;)
You can configure how much time are they kept also.

Hello David R & Tech.

Thank you very much for your replies. The contents were duly noted.

I have not checked scan reports for a long time and did not realize that when you close after a scan that was the end of that. After reading your threads, I asked my wife if she looked through the reports after scanning and she replied in the affirmative.

I will have to be more attentive to things otherwise I'll be lost.

Thank you again and best regards.
