Sending infected files to Avast
« on: April 14, 2004, 12:42:51 PM »
I used the internal procedures to send 4 undetected, infected files to Avast but received the following  bounce msg:
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<suppport@Avast.com>
    (reason: 550 5.1.1 <suppport@Avast.com>... User unknown)

I sent them to EZTrust and they are now detected in their latest definition.

Finished scanning:   6:13:06 AM, 4/14/04
Number of files scanned: 4.
Number of infections: 4
Number of infected files not cleaned/deleted/renamed: 4
C:\Test\Britney Spears and justin timberlake  0184.scr (Win32.Sdbot.55204 trojan)
C:\Test\Christina Aguilera caught back stage NUDE 0602.scr (Win32.Sdbot.55204 trojan)
   C:\Test\My Breasts Enlargement Photos  9218.scr (Win32.Spybot worm)
C:\Test\OMG Hilary Duff locker Room at school 7713.scr (Win32.Sdbot.55204 trojan)

eTrust EZ Antivirus Version 6.1.3.1

Is there another email address I can use to send these files to Avast?

May I ask what "internal procedures" did you use?
I believe the correct address should have support, not suppport.

Oops, thanks for spotting that.  Now I recall I have never been able to get
the 'send file' from the virus vault to work for me. I setup the SMTP but
Avast hangs during the operation and I have to CAD out ot the process.

The typo occurred when I used my regular email program. I'll resend them.

Thanks again,
