Well this is the true culprit, winmm.dll, the faulting module which ashDisp.exe happens to be using at the time.

Downloading cracks, isn't something without risk apart from the moral or legal standpoint.

first i would update to the latest version:

you use 4.8.1227 - but 4.8.1229 is the latest one!

you also could try a repair installation

i have reinstall it twice 4.8.1229 and it still does this the icon on the taskbar near the clock when i put the arrow to it it disappears so ether i log off or reboot it's find until i download a trainer for a game etc then that shows up

Crashing of avast components could due to Bagle/Beagle infection. I suggest:

1. Clean your temporary files.
2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

If you want more, just try on-line scanners:
Kaspersky (very good detection rates)
ESET NOD32
Trendmicro housecall
F-Secure
BitDefender (free removal of the malware)
The best things in life are free.
