Entry in "Warning" ...Log Viewer
« on: October 01, 2008, 11:21:22 PM »
Hi....I have several "daily" entries in the "Warning" module of the Log Viewer. The entry\warning reads:

"Function setiface update packages 0 has failed. Return code is 0x20000004, dwRes is 20000004"

Can anyone advise what this error message means...and perhaps, how do I correct my installation

Thanks................\\

Are you getting anything (error/warnings) displayed to the screen ?

Are the VPS signatures getting updated, outside of these errors (right click the avast 'a' icon, select about avast), what is the VPS version (latest is 081001-0) ?

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Hello (again) David.

Updates are being installed Ok, and I have done the "repair" thingy.

Would like to know what is generating the error comment and what it's significance is.

Greetings from Downunder (sunny) Australia.....\\

I honestly don't know what is generating the error or I would have said, you could do a forum search for the error number but I fear it won't be much help.

If the time of the error coincides with your first starting your system it could be that the connection isn't fully established (broadband connection), but that is a slim possibility as you said this happens several times a day.
