any idea, why the avast gui still closes during scan?

installed newer version as you told me, but it still closes???

In other words, it's old god "segmentation fault" (SIGSEGV). Accessing segment (area of pages with common access flags) improperly. Probably, it's caused by a flaw in the engine, which occurs on one of yours particular files - could you do some test and find out which file is responsible for it?

Does avast (or avastcmd) crash too? If so, could our have a look which filoe was scanner last, right before the crash, and try to reproduce the error? Without that culprit-file, we can't fix the flaw, of course..

don't use the GUI 

the commandline mode is easier , faster and ...conform with "linux spirit "

no idea, what you're talking about. linux does not work, nothing. not the internet(closes all the time), neiighter the printer, nor the tv stick. don't have the time...
change to xp+ kaspersky, 140 euro and it works!
