scan anomaly
« on: June 20, 2003, 08:10:01 AM »

After scanning a previously downloaded file
(located on desktop)
I received an error message:-
"scan was completed with error.
Error> The system cannot find the path specified."
Anybody have any experience of this?
any feedback appreciated.

Doesn't the file name (and/or path) contain some "rubbish" characters (I mean: national alphabet characters). Like Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese etc. - you got the point....

rainman,

do you think Donald would let you send me the file? Or -- does it happen with just about any file on your desktop, or just this special Donald file?

And what operating system are we talking about?

Thanks
Vlk

It turned out that the problem was caused by the apostroph character in the name. The avast context-menu scanner internally (incorrectly) uses it as a separator character - which in this case really fails.

We'll fix this in the next update.
Meanwhile, all you have to do to scan the file is either remove the apostrophe from the file name, or do a scan of the whole folder that contains the file (that should work).

Thanks

Very interesting outcome to my little problem vlk, eliminated another minor hiccup in otherwise a great programme.
Keep up the fine work you guys are doing.
Thanks.
