Way To Do This????
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:33:42 PM »
I started using AVAST today and was wondering if there was a way to set up the
program so when you right click on a file it will scan for virus's.
Also, how do you get it to show it scanning something while youd download it????
I am using the Firefox brower.

Yes... it's already there on Windows Explorer context menu.
Also, if you're using a download manager, point it to ashQuick.exe into avast folder (no parameters needed).

I figured out how to do this. Is it normal not to show anything if there is no problem????
I'm use to see a message pop-up showing that nothing was found.

I don't use Windows Explorer
Well, how do you manage files? I'm not saying Internet Explorer... I'm talking about a file manager, Windows Explorer.

or a download manager.
There is a possibility of tweaking Firefox, it was already posted here in forum. I've tried to search but did not succeed... Maybe you can wait a little... I think it is on about:config page of Firefox configurations.

You can configure the Explorer extension to show a report in the Common tab of the Program settings.

I use a program called Salamander. I hate using anything that I don't have to that is put out
by Microsoft.

Ok. So I think you won't have the context menu entry unless Salamander allows customization.

I got it to work with my Salamander program. I just need my Firefox browser showing me
that its scanning the file before I download it. It use to do it with AVG.

scanning the file before I download it.
I think it's only possible after the download finishes, not before.
avast WebShield scans the download while it is occurring, real time.
To scan before, use Dr.Web extension in Firefox.
