Not in the chest?
« on: October 05, 2008, 04:35:56 AM »
Sorry if this topic is in the wrong place; I'm pretty new.

I just recently ran a scan using avast! 4.8 and it found 18 infected files (ouch) and I chose for them all to be sent to the chest.
After the scan, I went to the chest and they weren't there.
I've been checking the chest periodically since the scan, and the files are still missing.
Where are my files and why aren't they in the chest?

What does the avast! log say? (You can find it by right clicking the avast! ball in the notification area.) You should find the name and location of the files detected, the name of the malware detected, and a warning if the file could not be moved to the chest.

I ended up just running another scan, and it found the same files.  I chose for them all to be deleted, but there was an error and they won't delete.  It also says they won't move into the chest or be repaired.  What should I do with them?

Check the log and tell us the error message: we can't advise you otherwise.

The log records detections, actions taken, warnings etc.
