Would you like to install the Microsoft VM? NO!!!!!
« on: October 07, 2008, 07:59:27 AM »
Hi, Every time on startup - A message comes up saying Would you like to install the Microsoft VM. If I press yes it comes up still, No - Same Thing. Is it a rouge Virus? I have malwarebytes rougeremover but I don't where it is, Nor how to use it.

Any help

Hi...

I'm not sure if this is a problem for Rogue Remover. If you click yes, does it proceed to install the VM or no?

Best Regards...

The messgae seems to be MS Java Virtual Machine trying to install. MSJVM has been defunct for years.

It does install something, It comes up with a license agreement then installs - I usually click no since I don't what it is

Thanks for the link Frank

micky77 mentioned a Hijack This! startup entry for MS Java in one of your posts:

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=37933.msg317557#msg317557

Have you tried fixing that entry?

It could be a worm trying to install MS Java:

EDIT: Or pretending to be MS Java?

Search your computer for msjavx86.exe/msjav*.exe and submit to VirusTotal if found.

Post a fresh Hijack This! log.

Google is your friend:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/294863

Download JavaRa then run it to un-install all old Sun Java installs:
http://raproducts.org/javara.html

Run Secunia Online Software Inspector:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online

If you have any .NET application then you need them plus their security updates.

You are running Kaspersky anti virus and you are asking help in Avast! forum ::)

Windows Service Pack 3 has been out for 4 months and you don't have it installed and their will be more updates on Oct. 14th.
