See that blue ball next to the clock with the "A" in it? Right click it. Choose 'on access'.

Hi. I wish to check /change my mail settings. It appears I do not have the mail protection wizard set up for admin. account of XP, only for my user account.

I cannot see where to change settings in the "on access" mail section.

You must install Avast when logged in as administrator. (not as user!)
I suggest you remove Avast, login as ADMINISTRATOR and install Avast. http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/admins.htm That will solve it.

Hello, I *did* in fact, install avast! as an administrator. But  :'( I have been having a few weirdo-computer problems of late, related to my current  administrator account.

There is only 1 administrator, the rest are users with admin rights.

There is only 1 administrator, the rest are users with admin rights.

I was advised to create a "second" admin. account due to problems I ws having with windows update. For all intents and purposes, the second account seems to be an admin. account too. but obviously I am not an expert.

I have also been advised, by a few people now, to delete the original admin. account, which it appears I am able to do from the new "admin" account. Is there anything special I need to know before I do so?

Other than that you will lose all settings for that account and mail picked up with it, it is safe to delete. And remember, admin account is something else than administrator!

Admin is a user belonging to the administrators group.
Administrator is the real "big boss".

Have fun now en enjoy Avast.
