Exclusions don't seem to be working
« on: October 20, 2008, 05:42:15 PM »
We are trying a trial copy of Avast Server Edition on one of our webservers.  The webserver runs an .EXE file any time one of our script engine runs, which is about once a second or so.

In order to troubleshoot some speed problems, I tried adding this .EXE to the exclusions list, both the global and under Standard Shield-Customize button.  It is still continuously scanned.  I tried all manner of excluding, even tried excluding the entire drive where said .EXE is stored.  Nothing seems to make a difference.  I've terminated and restarted Standard Shield.  Didn't help.

Any advice?

What exactly did you write into the list of exclusions?

The file itself is d:\inetpub\wwwroot\cgi-bin\htmlos.exe

In the exclusions, I tried (both by themselves and at the same time...currently all in the list of exclusions)
d:\*
d:\inetpub\wwwroot
*\htmlos.exe

Thanks

Any ideas? Should I try uninstalling/reinstalling?

Except for the second one, the exclusions should certainly work.
Are you sure that it's really this particular file that's being scanned? (so, it shows in Standard Shield's "Last scanned" field, and the "Scanned count" keeps increasing?)
