changing graphic cards

i have a apg card 64 mb want to change it to a 512 mb graphic card since i have 512 memory  but i notice the card i have on the side where it slides in to the mother board is different then 512 mb card i run xp home ,pentium 4,   1.60 ghz 512 mb ram

AGP cards come with their own Graphics RAM on board, so having 512MB of RAM is irrelevant you can't add RAM to a graphics card, certainly to none of the retail cards I have ever had. Graphics cards are independent of what RAM you have on your motherboard unless you have an on-board graphics chip (not card) which shares your normal RAM.

There are different AGP standards, AGP2, AGP4 and AGP8 I think AGP2&4 use the same slot configuration, but AGP8 won't fit in an AGP4 slot.

So you need to identify what AGP graphics card slot you have on your motherboard and that is the only type of AGP gard supported.
