Ah, sorry, this question was actually for YoKenny :)

I saw the Comodo module loaded in ashSimpl.exe process in your dump (and also McAfee SiteAdvisor).
I'm trying to find the connection between these two cases - i.e. what application may be the culprint.

Thanks for the help.

YoKenny, do you think we could ask you for an experiment?
We're trying to find out what is the conflicting application. It's either Comodo or SiteAdvisor.

To that end, it would be very useful if you could:
- remove the "fix" described above (and verify that the problem is back)
- uninstall SiteAdvisor and see if the problem persists
- if it does, uninstall Comodo and see if it persists

I'd think that uninstalling one of these should solve the problem. And the point is to find out which one it is.

Thanks
Vlk

Do you use any other security-related programs?
Thanks.
Just Windows Defender and WinPatrol and I do not use Comodo.

I'll un-install SiteAdvisor and the fix and reboot and see what happens.

I use IE7Pro as well and it uses right click a lot and that is when the ghost entry shows up.

This is getting quite complex.

I now have SiteAdvisor and Google Toolbar un-installed but I still have IE7Pro installed and I can view the Log without a problem so far.

The remnants problem is back!

I am going to put the SunbeltKPFHack=2 entry back in avast4.ini and reboot and be done with it!

I think it has to do with IE7Pro and its Mouse Gestures.

Man... it's difficult to imagine which is the relationship between Kerio, IEPro, Mouse Gestures and avast... ::) But against facts, no arguments...

So, at the end of day, it could have been SiteAdvisor, right?
I mean, when it was uninstalled, the problem did NOT happen. Correct?

Thanks

hi guys !
I have the same problem I have the same version of avast, and I use Internet explorer 7 and IE7por and also SiteAdvisor.
I open the avast Log Viewer, but it doesn't open until I kill the process of McAfee SiteAdvisor.

Are you using the avast official version or the beta one?

I've asked because I think this problem is addressed in the latest beta... not so sure.

In the latest beta update, the "workaround" should be in place automatically when an installation of Site Advisor is detected (i.e. there should be no need to modify the ini file).

I think the real cause of this problem is IE7pro, because when I installed McAfee SiteAdvisor it was installed on both Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla fire fox 3.0.3.
so, when I open Mozilla I can open the log viewerw without any problem, but when Internet explorer 7 is opened I encounter the problem.
