boot time scan doesn't scan

had sceduled a boot time scan on xp pro system. on reboot avast blue screen appeared only for a short time with a message "avwork initialize ..." (sorry, can't be more specific, as this flashes by within a few seconds) and then xp immediately booted to welcome screen. nothing was scanned.

there is no entry in avast logfile for this.
