Virus name: DAME (Dark Angel M.E.)
File name: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\vpsm00030501.vpu
VPS version: 0305-1, 05/28/2003

HELP!!!! :o :o ??? ??? :'( :'(

False alarm. Avast identifies its own Signature updatefiles as a Virus!:)

Nothing to worry about. I think one Avast guy will answer soon.

"DAME" is an old(realy old) Virusconstructor(Mutation Engine if i remember correctly)

Same thing here.  Had to turn resident scanning off to get latest update file.  System scans clean after updating.

my resident scanning is set to high...but it didn't prompt me about it when avast downloaded the latest update automatically...

i get to know only after i done a through scan...

I second that - this DAME polymorphic definition is inside the avast! for about ten years and never caused a false alarm...

Anyway, we will release the new update in several minutes - with thes FA removed and with new Win32:Holar variant added - it seems to spread very fast in the near future!

It does not matter. Or just re-run virus database update, to be sure...

hi vlk..

by the way....i always have got some files which avast is unable to scan.....due to zip archive is corrupted?????....how it matters??.....thanks vlk....

for example..

c:\MATLAB6p5\java\jarext\classes111.jar\oracle\gss\util\NLSCharacter.class
