« on: November 05, 2008, 02:43:24 PM »
i reformatted my comp a couple months ago and i guess during the windows set up, i got hit with a virus, and now my comp is slower and when i run 2 programs at once it laggs, i know that its a virus cause now i have the admin and password at start up and i cant get into the cmos cause its somehow passord protected, i tried doing a full scan with avast and i always come up with nothing.

Why don't you try full computer on-line scanning?
Kaspersky (very good detection rates)
ESET NOD32
Trendmicro housecall
F-Secure
BitDefender (free removal of the malware)

Try Tech's advice and see what comes up, it may be that your copy of avast is compromised. Also, try his other regimen available here, just scroll down to the last post...
