avast vs. vito
« on: November 04, 2008, 06:39:41 AM »
Every time I try to register Vito remote from multiple sites, Avast signals a virus alert. I notice vito remote is not listed even on vitotechnology.com  What am I missing?

Alerts on what, a file on your system or the site you are trying to register at ?

Can you be a little more detailed on what it is you are doing ?

What is the malware name, the infected file name or URL, where was it found e.g. (malware name, C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx or URL) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast 'a' icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.

It went off whenever I would try to link to a site to activate the program on my pc. Here is what it finds:

Sign of "HTML:Iframe-gen" has been found in "http://vitotechnology/com/manual/remote/" file
Sign of "HTML:Iframe-gen" has been found in "http://www.vitotechnology.com/howtoconnect/" file.

I downloaded a version of Vito Remote version 4. something I believe. I can't remember where exactly but it was probably a link off of xda or something like that. When I click the link on my phone to "activate online" it takes me to paypal and the amount is thousands of dollars...When I go to vitotechnologies website, vito remote is nowhere to be found. I don't understand whether this is a legit program or not. Does that help at all?

Doesn't seem to be a legit one... avast also detects malware in the websites (not only in the downloaded programs).

The first link I get a 404 error page (not found) the second alerts and I have had a quick look at the code and can't see anything obvious and nor can VirusTotal http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/872d0e14f007564d37a8fef13e613fc7

I have submitted the detection at the second link for analysis.

I have no idea if this is legit or otherwise, but there is no way I would be paying $1000 to activate a phone.

Ya it seems shady. I have used other vito products though and they seem fine. I've seen reviews for this vito remote. Does anyone have any input on whether this is a legitimate program or not? If not, is there a better universal remote program available?

Sorry I have never heard of it, surely you should be able to determine that from the reviews you have read ???
