I, too, found a similar problem today after installing Avast. I had uninstalled AVG antivirus and rebooted the system without an antivirus program, then installed Avast. When I try to print to my HP 6980 (wireless network printer), instead of printing on both sides, many blank pages were run through the printer after page 1, then the printer "jammed" and, after ejecting the page, the second page, plus 3 more blank pages moved through the printer. I can't find where Avast is scanning the printed file, but it's clearly messing up printing. When I uninstalled AVAST, rebooted, then installed AVG again, the printerworks perfectly. I'd like to switch to Avast, but not if it affects my printing.
Any ideas? I'm willing to try. My system is a Pentium 4 3.20GHz running XP SP3. My firewall is Sygate Personal Firewall (old, great program, no longer independent).
