error 0000001E
« on: November 14, 2008, 06:08:29 AM »
Hi all
My wife right clicked on one of her word document to check her file for any viruses . (was on floppy disc), came back clean.

But when she tried to open it, would not open and had to go to task manager to close it down. As it was not responding. We tried a couple of times with same result.
Assume file must be corrupted. We also assume the Error and warning below for Avast is due to the file being corrupt.
Any assistance very much appreciated.

Error in task manager
AAVM - scanning error: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx: avfilesScanReal of A:\11th November.doc failed, 0000001E

Warning in task manager
AAVM - scanning warning: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx [UNI]: A:\11th November.doc (A:\11th November.doc) returning error, 0000001E

Using windowsXP  home edition with SP3
Avast Pro 4.8.1282 with iavs 0811131-1

Cheers

Well, 1E is "read fault"... i.e. it sounds like a problem with the diskette (bad block) to me.

Hi igor

Thanks for your reply, and it seems like that you are right, as it makes sense to me.
