macro problem

I work doing transcription for a living and I installed Avast Home.  Avast will not let me install my macro for my job.  I cannot figure how to keep avast from stopping my macros in word.  Is there a way to put them in so Avast will by pass them?  I need this program and Avast will not let me do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Why won't it let you do that ?
e.g. what errors, etc. ?

avast doesn't block but scans and alerts to infection, so are you saying avast is alerting on the file ?

So to me this seems like some sort of conflict.
Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
