I work on a lot of computers for people in my community and often install Avast Home on the systems that do not have any antivirus. About a month ago, I started to receive calls from several of the Avast system owners telling me that they were getting a warning that their antivirus was out of date and that they had not heard the man’s voice say that the virus database had been updated. This problem also occurred on my personal system about the same time (about a month ago). I resolved the problem on my system by running a manual update. After that one-time manual update, the automatic updates resumed without a problem. However, simply running a manual update did not resolve the problem on many of the other systems with the issue.
I have searched on this forum periodically since the problem started for a resolution and have tried some of the suggestions in threads dealing with similar issues, but nothing I have tried has corrected the problem on all of the affected machines. I was also hoping that the problem might correct itself with the release of the new versions 4.8.1287 and 4.8.1290, but it still persists on several machines.
Here are some of the things I have tried.
Run a manual update (the resolution that worked on my system)
Made sure automatic updating was turned on.
Updated to a new license key.
Run a repair, reinstall.
Uninstall Avast from the Control Panel, run the Avast Uninstall Utility, reinstall new version, and re-enter a new license key.
I have a copy of the Avast4 program directory and all of log files stored within from one of the affected machines. If one of you Avast gurus could please help me, I would greatly appreciated it.
