What has avast! to do with game mode and this particular website?

Also for your info, NOD32 on my work computer also detected a threat on that website.
avast! will detect the threat via Web Shield each time you visit that webapge.

The site appears to be a download location for cracked software.
When Avast warns of malware in the site, it is not warning you you have malware on the computer. The webshield is preventing the page from loading, to ensure you don't get malware on the computer.
Ignore it at your peril.
I think you'll find that a lot of the users here are quite anti this kind of site, and what is on offer there.

Games? Slowdowns?

[edit] Oh, by the way, AVAST Pass.

Well I tried it and it is a crack site I was offered tunneup utilities (notice the spelling error) that carried win2009 and several assorted trojans plus the TDSS rootkit.  So I think Avast was spot on.  If you are not running a VM or have a different AV keep clear

As it is very common, malware and cracks live together...
