I just wanted to give one further update, in that, as per my previous post, I do not intend to give any further updates on the public forum.

I suspect that there will be an update on the matter in around two or so weeks from now.

Obviously, I do not intend to provide names and further info, but will try to find out why the pages was added.

I will comment upon that aspect and that aspect only.

I hope it will help.

Regards,

Justin.

Hi again,
I may have the information I need via PM or e-mail. It doesnt have to be public.
But I must learn who put Doctus.org on fraudulent list and what is the exact cause he/she found to put Doctus.org on the list.

These two information is very important for us to see if it was a mistake or an abuse. If there is someone native Turkish speaker, there is no way he/she might have mistaken about Doctus. It is like blaming CastleCops for fraud.

Otherwise I will have to find out and discuss your system about determination of fraud sites in some other platforms.

Regards

tansu,

would it not be better to stop the silly threats in this forum and work privately with the Alwil team?

If you cannot do better than the threats in this forum then I would suggest you to follow the advice of a much earlier British politician to "publish and be damned!".

First let me make it clear I'm an avast user and that is my only connection with Alwil software so I don't speak for them.

I have to agree with Alan, as bad as having your site listed as a possible fraudulent is (as far as I'm aware it has been removed) and an investigation is pending, but that as has been mentioned will be done outside of a public forum.

So threats to discuss on another platform are really no better than the slight you felt from your site being listed, is that really the path you want to go down. I would have thought not, so as has been said it would be better to work with Alwil.

To date Alwil have responded promptly to your post in the forums, taken the site of the list pending investigation and given a time frame for this, but they clearly state they won't discus this in the public forum.

As a final update to this:

A fraudulent file was reported to us by a user on the doctus.org website.

I am informed that the website was added to the fraudulent sales website as a precautionary measure. I have been unable to ascertain what checking procedures were done at this time.

Further checking of the reported file shows that it is no longer present.

I ran a deep URL check against doctus.org using Xenu, including external links in the check.

I have since found nothing untoward.

doctus.org has been removed from the fraudulent sales site listing page.

We apologize for any error on our part, and for an insufficiently strong checking process.

I have tightened up our procedures for the checking of such URLs in the future, including adding a three stage checking process by different individuals to make sure of our facts (including logging of those facts centrally), so we can have more certainty.

It is my belief that, due to the huge proliferation of such sites, our cautious approach was the right thing to do, even if the downside to this is the odd "false positive", however, I believe our new procedures of checks and balances allow us to have more certainty for added sites in the future.

Kind Regards,

Justin.

I want to say something about this topic:

I know the guy named Tansu since I was a member of that forum (now I am not). And firstly I informed Alwil by e-mail about this mistake. On the other hand, the forum members did not do anything (such as informing Alwil by email) but insulting. When I informed Alwil, there were lots of pages including lots of insults about Alwil-Avast and there were not any attempts to correct the "fraudulent site" case. Even though I said them that I sent an email to Alwil, they went on insulting.

After two days with no response for my email from you, Tansu opened this thread as it should be (I think he also sent an email to Alwil). However, he made silly threats like "if they don't remove the url in a few hours, I will bla bla..." on his forum site. I read the all messages on this thread, you said "it will be fixed with the next web-page update", but he went on making his silly threats. And when the problem was fixed, many members of the forum congratulated Tansu, what a childish behavior! And I was called as extreme sympathizer of Avast by some members and Tansu got upset with me since I criticized his threats.

And as far as I see from the messages of him on this thread he is still trying to threaten you although the mistake was fixed. He cannot achieve anything by trying to villify Avast on other forums, sites, etc. And also I must say that for many years the visitors of the forum have been told that Avast is a bad antivirus software, this situation has not ended even with the new version 4.8 because of their prejudices about Avast.

As a result, the problem has already been fixed and there are not any issues that require discussion. Hence, I suggest you not to pay attention to him about this subject anymore.

By the way, I do not want to turn the clock back on the subject which was solved already. I just wanted to say what I need to say.
