When I was a translator I used Word and once knew how how to fix the original text for translation to the left of the screen, alongside my English translation to the right, page for page. This must be possible with OpenOffice Writer.
The Help pages are good but unfortunately I do not know what search term to use ... (double-page edit? That didn't work..)
I would be most grateful for any input.

You are quite right - sorry to bother you. I think the Avst forum is really helpful - but there are limits!

Cheers!

Sorry for the late reply - my server (GMX) blocked them as Spam yesterday and I have just rec'd the report.

Thanks guys.

I logged in as "humf" to 00, started a thread, and got more or less the same replies. I resized the windows to fit my 17" screen equally, and found , contrary to the posters you referred to,  that by selecting in OO Writer -> View -> "web layout" rather than "print layout" both texts remained in place and could therefore be edited simultaneously. I find that this workaround is adequate for my needs.
